    Al oeste del Eden
-published in Argentina with its original title "The man in Somalia" - Hugo Pratt takes us to one of the landscapes that have marked his life: the Somali desert. Here the Western powers have played their "place in the sun", ignoring that in these territories, so vast, desolate and old, not much has changed over the centuries. The legends, myths and beliefs are the same as from the beginning of time. Maybe their players too.

  • Cato Zulu
    Cato Zulu
Cato Zulu is a typical cartoon Pratt '80s. It was published in the journal Corto Maltese Italian, divided into two sagas, one of 1984 and again in 1988. We also see in this work some of the elements common to almost all the work of the giant Venetian. First of all, the ability to turn a minor historical event, almost forgotten, on the basis on which to build an excellent script. For that we must be very canchero in the management of historical reference, but we must also give fleshiness and relief to the characters and the story is sustained. Cato Zulu is not the best creation of Hugo Pratt, but still high-level historical adventure, with climates, characters, dialogues and sequences in which the teacher makes it clear that even laburando half machine, they spent the cloth at most [read full 365 comics per year ].

  • Indian Summer
    Verano Indio
A comic made with the great Milo Manara. This graphic novel was published in 1983 and is now a classic comic book adventures of historical setting. The plot takes us to the beginnings of the colonial era in North America and thanks to careful documentation work presents the context in which facts may well be the seventeenth century, including the prosecution of the witches of Salem in 1692. Indian Summer, correspond to that time in early fall when the temperature increases (which we call the "Indian Summer in San Miguel") and the Anglophone culture, apparently associated with a period which shows the beginning of its end. We are therefore faced with a work with a script twilight of great subtlety, that will not disappoint the followers of Hugo Pratt. The first pages show the conflict triggered the argument: the rape of an English girl by some Indians. The girl is assisted and avenged by Abner, a member of the Lewis family, outcasts among white men. Gradually the characters we are "guided" by a colonial world, largely religious, where cities have names like "New Canaan", where those who contravene the norms and customs is severely punished [read in Suite101 ].
